Terms of Use

The terms that govern your use of the Epoch Epilepsy Diary app. Last updated October 2026.

These Terms of Use govern your use of Epoch (the app), operated by Epilepsy Network Australia ("ENA", "we", "us"). By using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What the app is — and what it is not

The app is a personal record-keeping tool. It helps you log seizure events, track medications, and generate a summary to share with your doctor or neurologist. The app is not a medical device. It does not detect, diagnose, predict, or treat epilepsy or any other medical condition, and it does not replace the advice of your neurologist, GP, or any other healthcare professional. Do not rely on this app in an emergency. If you or someone near you is experiencing a seizure emergency, call 000 immediately.

2. Who can use the app

The app is intended for people with epilepsy aged 18 and over, and for parents or legal guardians managing a diary on behalf of a child with epilepsy. By using the app, you confirm that you are 18 or over, or that you are a parent or legal guardian acting on behalf of a child and consenting on their behalf.

3. Medical disclaimer

The information you record is for your personal reference and to assist communication with your treating healthcare team. Nothing in the app constitutes medical advice. ENA is not responsible for any clinical decision made by you or your healthcare provider based on information recorded in the app. Always follow the advice of your neurologist regarding your medications, seizure management, and treatment plan. Do not change or stop your medications based on anything in this app.

4. Your data

Your data is stored on your device only. See our Privacy Policy for full details. You are responsible for keeping your device secure and for backing up your data.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the app to record information about any person other than yourself, or a child for whom you are a parent or legal guardian, unless that person has given their explicit consent.

6. Intellectual property

The app, including its design, branding, and content, is owned by Epilepsy Network Australia and Synthesis Neurology. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the app without our written permission.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, ENA is not liable for any loss, harm, or damage arising from your use of the app, including loss of diary data, reliance on information in the app, or failure of the app to function as expected. Nothing in these terms excludes any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

8. Changes to the app and these terms

We may update the app and these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you within the app. Continued use of the app after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
