Neuropsychological assessment and clinical psychology therapy for children and adults with neurological conditions.
Neuropsychology looks at how the brain affects thinking, memory, emotion and behaviour. It sits alongside neurology and is often the missing piece in understanding how a condition affects daily life.
An assessment measures abilities such as memory, attention, language, problem solving and processing speed, and compares them with what is expected for your age and background. It can help to:
An assessment usually involves an interview about your history and concerns, followed by a set of standardised tasks done with pen and paper or on a tablet. There is nothing to study for. Afterwards you receive feedback on the results and a written report with recommendations, which is also sent to your referring doctor.
We also offer psychological therapy for people living with neurological conditions, drawing on approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and emotion-focused therapy (EFT). This includes support for functional neurological disorders and functional/dissociative seizures.
Our Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist has experience across the public and private sectors, working with children and adults who have a range of neurological conditions, with a special interest in functional neurological disorders.
