Ambulatory Home Video-EEG testing — in the comfort of your own home

Home Video-EEG monitoring is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools available for epilepsy and seizure disorders. Instead of days as an inpatient waiting for a seizure to occur, the patient is monitored in the comfort of their own home — capturing real events in their natural environment.

Avoids lengthy hospital admission

Rather than days as an inpatient, the patient sleeps in their own bed and maintains their normal routine throughout monitoring.

2-night or 4-night studies

Extended monitoring dramatically increases the chance of capturing a real event and getting you a definitive diagnosis faster.

Expert reporting

All recordings reviewed and reported by FRACP-qualified epileptologists. Medicare rebates apply.

Regional & rural patients

Home Video-EEG is performed at our Box Hill clinic. Regional and rural patients may be eligible for travel and accommodation assistance through IPTAAS or VPTAS. Patients with private health insurance may also access this service as a hospital-substitute admission.

How it works
1
The patient's doctor sends a referral to us

We contact the patient within 2 business days to arrange setup.

2
Patient attends for equipment fitting

The patient comes to our Box Hill clinic. Our EEG technologist fits the monitoring equipment — usually takes about 1 hour.

3
Monitor for 2 or 4 nights at home

The patient goes home with the equipment fitted. The device records EEG and video continuously while they sleep and go about their day.

4
Equipment returned & report issued

The patient returns the equipment to our clinic. Our neurologist reviews the recording — reports are typically issued within 1–2 weeks given the volume of data.
